Seagate Offers SSD-Like Performance With The New Momentus XT HDD

This 2.5″ drive from Seagate has been classified as world’s fastest drive for laptops. Called Momentus XT HDD, the drive features a 7200RPM spin speed, 4GB of quick SLC NAND Flash memory and is up to 100 percent faster than an usual 5400RPM drive.

Soon available in 250GB, 320GB and 500GB of storage capacity, the Momentus XT offers high SSD-like performance at the lower price of an usual hard disk drive.  Seagate is getting closer to the solid state drive standards with this hybrid and, if you want to shorten the gap between SSD’s and HDD’s, two hybrid Momentus XTs in a RAID configuration will do the job.

New Lithium-Ion Batteries Have a Lifespan of 20 Years and Survive 10.000 Charge Cycles

Eamex, a Japanese company, claims that they figured out a way to significantly increase the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries used for hybrids or electrical vehicles. They say the new battery can be recharged for about 10.000 times with a lifespan of 20 years and this is much better than what we had until now.

Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid

As the CES isn’t too far from us, Lenovo has revealed their Ideapad U1 Hybrid. This impressive gadget works both as a notebook and tablet, and each one has its own OS and system specifications.

When in notebook mode, it is powerd by a Intel Core 2 Duo U4100 CULV CPU processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 120 GB SSD and runs under Windows 7 , while the tablet has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, 512MB DDR1 Ram, 16 GB Flash memory under a different operating system, called Skylight ( a custom LINUX OS ) . For graphics, the notebook uses an integrated video card while the tablet is using Snapdragon.

The Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid which combines a notebook and a tablet can be achieved for $1000.
