Nokia N8 Replica Already on the Market, in China

The Nokia N8 hasn’t even been launched yet, and the Chinese have already launched a 1:1 replica. These guys sure work fast.

But, like most Shanzhai, the Chinese N8 doesn’t come close to the original, as far as technical specifications are concerned. It has a 3.2 touchscreen with a 240×400 inch resolution, WAP, GPRS, FM radio, Bluetooth, webcam and Java support. Battery life ranges between 3 and 5 hours of talk time and 8 to 12 days, in stand-by mode.

But the N8 replica has no WIFI, 3G, Symbian OS, and we can’t even mention the 12 megapixel Carl Zeiss sensor. The 75 euro price tag seems pretty reasonable, and accessories are even cheaper: 3 euro for a second battery, 2 euro for a 4 Gb SD card, and 6 euro for a Bluetooth headset. Still, judging by its features, I’m not sure it’s worth it.

Check out more photos of the N8 replica, after the break.

Nokia Ovi Orion Could Replace the N-Gage

Upset because Nokia announced it wouldn’t go through with the touchscreen N-Gage it announced back in 2008? Oh, cheer up, things are looking up.

The guys at Recombu designed a new gaming phone Nokia should definitely look into, if they’re planning on re-launching their mobile-gaming division. Named the nokia Ovi Orion, this breathtaking concept features elements from both the Apple iPhone and the Sony PSP, with a couple of improvements.

Besides the PSP-like controls, touchscreen display, the Ovi Orion has a QWERTY keyboard on its backside, and a small, elegant texting display. It looks and sounds great in theory, but for the Orion to be a smash-hit, Nokia would have to equip it with killer CPU and GPU.

Whether Nokia will ever launch the Ovi Orion, or not, only time will tell. In the meantime check out some more photos and a video of the concept gaming phone, after the jump.

Cheaper 16 Gb Nokia X6 to Hit the Market

Nokia probably realized its 32 Gb X6 smartphone was a little to expensive for most and launched a more affordable version of its handheld.

Launched in November of 2009, the 32 Gb Nokia X6 had a price tag of $676 and that didn’t really convince people to line up and buy it. So the Finnish giant came up with a cheaper, 16 Gb version of the X6.

Featuring the same 3.2 inch touchscreen as its 32 Gb twin, runs Symbian and comes in the same color variants: black, white, white with pink, and white with yellow. It doesn’t include the Nokia music service, but you can probably overlook that.

The 16 Gb Nokia X6 includes a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and promises 18 days of stand-by time and 11.5 hours of continuous talk time. It also comes with the OVI maps navigation system and preinstalled games like Spore and Asphalt 4. (more…)

See-Through Display Mobile Phone Concept

We see many concepts today, but i think this concept deserves a little bit of attention. Juan Carlos Garzon came with the idea of a mobile phone concept which features a see-through display. The display has a touch-screen interface and, on the back, a 5 MP camera for high resolution stills. The see-through display uses LED technology so the screen is clearly visible both day and night.
