Pentax OPTIO W90 Is One Sturdy Camera

Pentax has just unveiled its new OPTIO W90 camera, a rugged device that can take some serious punishment as well as crisp, quality photos.

The Pentax OPTIO W80 was an impressive camera that could pretty much withstand anything you threw at it, but its successor, the W90 puts it to shame. The new OPTIO W90 is a waterproof, shockproof, coldproof, dustproof and whatever-you-can-think-of-proof. You can use it underwater at depths of 20 feet, drop it from heights of up to 4 feet, and take photos at temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sharp thought that you might enjoy seeing photos of your loved ones while you’re on the phone, so they’ve come up with a cordless phone that features a built-in digital photo frame.

The Sharp JD-4C1CW cordless phone has a 4.3 inch touchscreen that can be used to dial the desired number, in case you get tired of pressing the handset. It also acts as an alarm clock, status indicator, kitchen clock, and a digital photo frame. The JD-4C1CW only has 64 mb of storage space, and you can store the photos via SD/SDHC/Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro.

Phone-O-Scope Improves Quality of iPhone Photos

The iPhone isn’t known for the high-quality photos its shoots, but thanks to a ingenious device called Phone-O-Scope, you can get some pretty decent stills.

The Phone-O-Scope is basically an adapter used to attach a SLR lens to your iPhone. It was designed by Bhautik Joshi, a research engineer from San Franciso who just wanted to see if such a device could be built.  SUre it’s not the prettiest iPhone accessory you’ve ever seen, but it does offer you all the advantages of SLR lenses, like DOF effects and focal lengths.

Operating the Phone-O-Scope can allegedly be pretty clumsy, but the Holga-like quality of the photos and the $10 cost of the entire project (providing you already own the iPhone and SLR lens) make it worth your while. I f you’re willing to build your very own Phone-O-Scope, take a look at the tutorial on Bhautik’s site.
